How to Fix Stopped TomTom Device?

Follow the steps for starting the navigation tool again:
  • Charge navigation tool for at least 3 hours.
  • Ensure that you are using My Drive Connect’s latest version. Tap on My Drive’s icon either from the Windows notification area or Apple’s menu, depending upon the system. Then tap on My Drive Connect.
  • Connect the USB cable received with navigation tool on the computer system. Don’t plug it on TomTom. 
  • Turn on the GPS gadget.
  • Now, press and hold the ON/ OFF button. Do not release the button till it restarts with a sound of a drum. Hold it till the gadget screen appears black with white text. Once you the screen appearing, release the button. 
  • Quickly release the ON/ OFF button 3 times as in 1-2-3 while the black screen with text is displayed. You have to be a bit quick in this step. 
  • The screen will turn black and the gadget will reboot to recovery mode after few seconds. You will either see a spinning cogwheel or wheel according to the device you are using. Switch the device off and again start from step ‘e’. 
  • Connect USB cable with GPS tool. You need to connect when spinning cogwheel or wheel appears on the screen. 
  • My Drive Connect will automatically begin restoring the TomTom software on the gadget once the GPS is connected to the computer system. Leave the device as the recovery process will take around 5 to 30 minutes, depending upon the internet connection.
  • Wait for the GPS gadget to restart.
  • You can disconnect the tool from the computer once the tool restarts. The device will display a red cross if the software is restored successfully.

How To Fix SD Card Issue Not Recognized By TomTom?

If you can see SD card appearing on your My Computer (Windows) or on Mac’s desktop but not recognized by GPS then follow the below steps.

  1. Repairing the damaged files on SD card
  1. Connect the memory card to your system.
  2. Access removable disk drive for SD device on your system.
  3. Remove the folder ‘loopdir’.
  4. Once the folder is deleted, carefully remove the SD card from the system.
  5. On your Carminat TomTom, insert the new memory device.
  6. Switch to Carminat TomTom after opening the SD slot.
  7. Wait till the navigation screen appears and wait till device can be read by the GPS.

  1. Ensure that memory device is still connected to the computer.

  5. Now, copy the folder to root directory of the memory device. Keep in mind that folder already exists on the memory device and you need to replace the folder as well the files it has.
  6. Now, start the TomTom home and you will see the SD slot recognized at Home.
